Identity, Utility, and the Next Chapter of .sol

Happy New Year, .sol fam!

Growth. Teamwork. Community support. These are what spring to mind when I reflect on last year. 2025 was SNS’s year of nonstop building. Dotso was born. The Ambassador Program came to life. We launched the airdrop as a big thank you to our .sol community. We hit an organic ONE MILLION Twitter reach within 24 hours. We ran the LFG campaign, the $1 domain campaign, claiming period with bots prevention. We brought The Kitchen to the real kitchen. And we showed up strong together at almost 100 events around the world, along with Solana, Jupiter, All-stars, universities, charitable organisations, and many other partners.

We ship. Online and offline. Non-stop 24/7 for our .sol users and community. That’s what our team is good at and what we love cooking up in the kitchen.

If you’ve been on this journey with us: THANK YOU. Your feedback, patience, and energy shaped how we build.
If you’re new: WELCOME! We’re here on the road to mass adoption of .sol.

We are proud to be part of Solana. It’s become a place where builders do real things: build, trade, create, and form a home for their communities — the .sol community very much included. In that world we all are shaping together, identity isn’t just a “nice-to-have.” It’s the must-have layer that makes everything easier on the internet.

At SNS, we’re focused on 3 principles this year. Ship the Experience. Optimise with and for Users. Lift the Standard.

Where do we implement these principles?

1. Community

SNS is all about our .sol community. With 455,000+ .sol domains registered, we’ve grown into one of the largest on-chain naming communities — and one of the largest communities on Solana. In 2026, we’re ready for more.

1.1 Create an amazing .sol experience, online and offline For our team, identity is what makes the experience feel real, fun, meaningful. That means building moments where .sol isn’t just a feature. It’s something you feel when you show up and connect. One of my favourite magic moments happened in Abu Dhabi recently: someone spotted my .sol shirt from afar and said, “Hey SNS, we love you!” This is connection. This is community.

1.2 Build with our community and lift the standard together Shout out to Manitas, Tom, W, Bondbull, Luxsolana, Web3iam, and all our active .sol community members. Your feedback helped shape what we shipped. This year, we’ll level up how we listen: Sleekplan + targeted surveys + clearer channels, plus more visible updates so you can see exactly what changed thanks to you.

1.3 Expand our .sol community We want to bring in more people who already live across namespaces, like those repping both .eth and .sol. A great example is Jeremy Allaire, CEO of Circle, who uses jdallaire.sol. We’ll also onboard more builders through communities like the Network School and university blockchain clubs. Ultimately, we want to pass the “mom test”: .sol should be so simple that your mom can get it and use it.

2. Marketplace

The marketplace is where your .sol becomes discoverable and tradable. We’re working on features that emphasise the following: Discover → make it easier to find great names (exploration + categories) Offer → clearer flows, less friction, better price discovery Track → stay informed with alerts and updates (we’re validating what matters most via customer surveys and feedback)

3. Bringing Web2 Utility to .sol

In 2026, we’re focused on making .sol useful beyond crypto. It means your identity can travel across more surfaces where people already live online. That also means staying thoughtful about interoperability with the broader internet naming ecosystem and taking a responsible, standards-aware approach as we explore what’s possible.

We’ve been educating ourselves on ICANN and the gTLD world, working with domain industry experts to better understand how ICANN works and what responsible interoperability could look like. At the same time and before we scale, we’re planning to run lightweight experiments to test product-market fit and learn what real users want from .sol beyond wallets.

What’s coming next

In the months ahead, you’ll see SNS ship along 3 tracks, guided by our principles:

  • AI features
  • Exploration
  • Categories
  • Marketplace experience
  • Auction
  • Introducing Web2 utility

We’ll keep it simple as we ship, learn, improve… and then ship again!

Thank you for building this with us. Let’s make 2026 the year when .sol goes everywhere, starting right where you are at sns.id.
